Hello and welcome to all the new children and parents to our club at Bayside United. We welcome back all our previous members from the 2009 season.
Here at Bayside United our aim is to provide the juniors of our club an environment where our children will learn the great game of football while having fun which is the most important thing as you all know, if your child is enjoying him or herself they will stay in the game a long time.
Around the grounds: Most of you would be aware we have successfully finalized two senior fields, and now have full access to approximately six junior fields. The BBQ area has now been upgraded with an extended beer garden with a smoking area. The dug outs have been extended to premier league standard. This is in keeping with the committee’s 5 year plan to achieve premier league status.
On the football scene: We are looking forward to a very exciting year, with the appointment of Andrew McCarthy as Director of Coaching; Andrew and his team have in place an advanced player identification and development program (ADP) planned for U11 – U15 divisional players, development programs planned for U9 & U10 SSF players (SSFDP), a Personal Development Camp (PDC) for divisional players and a couple of informal Parent Education Sessions (PES). All these programs are outlined in more detail later in this booklet.
The successful Nutmegs Football Academy will continue in 2010 and those players interested in developing their football skills further should contact Kris on Mobile: 0427 005 385 or email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for details on the next Nutmegs Football Academy program.
Andrew will also be running several coaching clinics during the season to help all levels of coaching, so keep an eye out for when they are on. We will post all information on our web page www.baysideunited.com.au for all upcoming events.
To all our volunteer coaches if you need a hand with any training drills or if you would like to get some help especially if this is your first time at coaching please let us know and we will have someone help you.
We will be running a number of coaching courses to help all new and experienced coaches. Our first course is being held at Bayside United, free of charge on the 2nd March 2010.
I would personally like to thank Dave Harvey for all the hours he has put into preparing our data base for 2010, and also Tracey and Steve Towers for organizing the printing of our first addition information booklets. A lot of time and hard work has gone on behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of our sign on days and I would like to thank all who were involved. A big thanks to Mark Butler and Steve Towers for the continued great work they have done in the designing and the up keep of the web page.
On the business side of the club: The cost of running the club is quite extensive and the revenue for the club comes from only a few avenues, the main one of course is sign on fees, then we have the takings from the bar, pokies and the canteen, plus we do some fishing club raffle’s. The only other money we have come in is through sponsorship. So we can keep our fees at a reasonable level we have to keep our costs down and we can do this by us not having to employ people from outside of the club to do jobs that you can do by giving up a couple of hours of your time.
For the last two years the canteen has been run by volunteers, hopefully this year we will get help from more parents. When this is shared amongst all our teams, each child’s parent will only have to do one or two rosters all season.
The more help we get from volunteers – the less we have to pay out, leaving us with more scope to improve the facilities of the club.
You have a very loyal and hard working committee looking after your children and your club but please remember all the committee members are volunteers, we do the best we can for the benefit of the club as a whole. All the committee is reachable by emails but sometimes it might take us a couple of days to get back to you due to our own work commitments.. If the matter is urgent leave a message at the club and we will call you as soon as possible.
Let’s all have a great year. Mums and dads lets behave ourselves on the sidelines and only call out positive encouragement to our children they will enjoy the game more if you let them. Let our children play the game to learn skills but most of all to have fun with their mates.
